At the beginning of this year, we participated in a project organised together with the Rotary Club Munyonyo / Kampala. Orthopaedists were invited to develop prostheses and artificial arms and hands for patients in rural areas and the best to be selected for future long-term cooperation.

Not only could they observe the workshop’s daily business, but were also able to lend a hand. The two young physiotherapists assisted patients following fittings and helped them with exercises that will strengthen their muscles for a speedy recovery and quick return to everyday life. Of course the next football match is around the corner and no child wants to miss out!

Our veterinary colleague Stephen Tigawalana who had suffered a serious car accident (see TOKA to find out more) also benefitted greatly from the physiotherapists’ treatments.

With immense pride we can announce that our specialist team from St Joseph was successful! The organisers were so impressed with their work that they started planning future projects developing prostheses especially for children and young people.

Let us help the St. Joseph orthopaedists  team with acquiring the necessary materials to achieve their important task.
